#chelindseyvaca: Taking Off

A couple of weeks ago, my sister and I got to take our first ever sister vacation! We've been dreaming of Harry Potter world ever since it was first announced so we were incredibly excited to experience it firsthand (even though we're both a lot older than when we first began reading the books).

Lindsey came up and stayed with me for a few days to help prepare!

We supplemented our wardrobes with more shorts + tanks + dresses thanks to our favorite Goodwill

We made fun shirts to wear to the Wizarding World with Elmer's Glue and Rit dye- tutorial coming soon! My tank top had Harry's lightning scar and glasses while Lindsey's said "I solemnly swear that we are up to no good" on the front and "Mischief Managed" on the back.

Monday we launched #chelindseyvaca! We were grateful for helpful friends who drove us to the airport and kind airport security officers. (We definitely weren't this bubbly in the security line on Friday returning home).

Our hotel was a Groupon find and we loved it! It was close to lots of fun attractions and had tons of amenities. It would be great for a family with children because the hotel had its own water park right on site, along with a full game room and daily children's activities.

The forecast for our entire trip was stormy. We decided not to let any rain get us down and even though our cab driver warned us they would close the park, we went to Universal Studios Monday evening anyway.

Of course as soon as we got off the moving walkway to enter Universal, the thunder clapped, the skies opened and rain poured down. The crowds formed a mass exodus, all clad in rain ponchos, trying to keep the little ones dry.

We decided to make the most of it during the scattered storms and explored all of the shops along Universal's City WalkWe ducked into Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville for dinner and entertainment- the coconut shrimp were delicious!

After dinner, we caught Star Trek at the movie theater, swooned over Chris Pine and headed back to the hotel to get ready for the next day at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter! (insert excited squeal here)

  1. how fun! I've been to Islands of Adventure a million times (it's my fave!) but haven't been since they opened the Wizarding World! The last time I went was just WEEKS before it opened. Can't wait to go again.

  3. You two are so cute! I haven't been down to Disney/Universal EVER and I can't wait for my chance someday! I would look and act like a 10 year old girl the entire time (especially at wizarding world). And the Star Trek movie was so good! Not to mention Chris Pine isn't too hard on the eyes ;)
